Murmuration (Bronze) 2025 is the final piece in CH’s First Works series. This bronze sculpture captures the sculptural essence of a starling murmuration, a breathtaking natural phenomenon CH was fortunate to witness in his home landscape of Yorkshire.

 

Inspired by the fluid movement of the birds in flight, CH begins by drawing a single line to represent their motion. He then transforms that line into a three-dimensional sculptural form, turning a fleeting moment in nature into a lasting expression in bronze.

 

The piece reflects the captivating experience of starlings moving in unison, interpreted through a contemporary approach. The deliberate use of dabbed green on black patinated bronze echoes the shifting tones of the birds in flight, while inviting viewers to see bronze as a vibrant, expressive, and richly textured material.

 

The first edition is available to purchase. Other editions will be produced upon receipt of payment, with an estimated lead time of 8–12 weeks.
